Looking to strengthen consumer health protections for residents and visiting patrons, Mayor Kelly Yaede’s continued work with the Township Council has led to increased penalties for restaurants with repeated health violations.

Thanks to the new ordinance, which was approved by the Township Council last month, restaurants that fail to meet Hamilton’s strong health standards will see increased fines including:

  • 60% Higher Fines  for 3 consecutive violations
  • 100% Higher Fines for 4 consecutive violations
  • Mandatory closures for at least 72 hours, or until health issues are abated, for 4 consecutive violations

“As Mayor, there is nothing more important to me than the safety of our residents,”explains Mayor Kelly Yaede. ” Although the overwhelming majority of restaurants across our community meet our strong health standards,  I am confident that these additional penalties will clearly illustrate that Hamilton Township will not tolerate any establishment that jeopardizes the health of our citizens and patrons  visiting  from neighboring communities.”
